India's Existing Coal-Fired Power Generation Project Has A Total Installed Capacity Of 62,200 MW

It is reported that the total installed capacity of coal-fired power plants in India at various stages of construction is 6,200 MW. India's existing coal-fired power generation project has a total installed capacity of 62.23 million MW, which is divided into different construction stages. Among them, 19.78 million megawatts were for central coal power projects, 18.72 million megawatts were for state government power projects, and 23.73 million megawatts were for private power projects. The Indian government plans to increase the proportion of non-fossil fuel power generation to 40% by 2030 and has set a target of achieving 450,000 MW of renewable energy power generation by 2030.

According to the 2006 Environmental Impact Assessment Notification Guidelines and Amendments, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of India evaluated these coal power projects and granted environmental permits, giving detailed regulations for environmental protection. To reduce carbon emissions and increase share of renewable energy generation, the Indian government has set a target of achieving 175,000 MW of renewable energy installations by 2022, including 100,000 MW of solar power, 60,000 MW of wind power, and biomass 10,000 MW and 50,000 MW for small hydropower projects. As of the end of February, the total installed capacity of renewable energy in India was 86.75 million megawatts, of which solar installed capacity was 34,400 megawatts, wind power installed was 37,670 megawatts, biomass energy was 10,000 megawatts, and small hydropower projects were 4,680 megawatts.
